ABeam Consulting Enters Southeast Asia Market

ABeam Consulting Limited (hereafter ABeam Consulting; headquarters located in Chiyoda-ward, Tokyo; Kazumasa Nishioka, President and Representative Director) announced that it had purchased the independent Singapore consulting company, “Enterprise Business Solutions” (EBS), and that it had officially entered the Southeast Asian consulting market. The company, which has been renamed ABeam Consulting (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in English, has begun business activities as ABeam’s base in the Southeast Asian market to provide Japanese, European, and American companies withsupport and offer consultancy services to local enterprises in Southeast Asia. Thus, ABeam Consulting has overseas bases in seven locations and this is the fourth base in the Asian area excluding Japan, following Taipei, Shanghai and Seoul.

EBS was a consulting company founded by Steve Allen, who is well versed in the Asia consulting market, and Allen will remain in the position of President following ABeam’s stock acquisition. At present, the company has 15 consultants and is involved in many projects, including those regarding strategy, BPR, SAP, and CRM, mainly in Thailand. Sales of about 300 million JPY are expected for the current term.

Many European and American companies have business bases in Southeast Asia. There is a strong drive for corporate investment, centered on manufacturing, and therefore the consulting market is expected to grow. The decision to acquire EBS was based on ABeam Consulting’s judgment that Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia will be the areas of concentration in the future and that Singapore is the optimal base from which to offer consulting services to enterprises entering the markets in those countries.

In the future, ABeam Consulting (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. plans to expand its service offerings to Vietnam, the Philippines and other surrounding countries, as ABeam Consulting’s core function in Southeast Asia. It also plans to extend its activities to provide full services, including development and introduction of information systems and the provision of a variety of business process-related services. It aims to increase the number of consultants to 100 by the year 2010.
